Abe was a talented long time starting TE for the Claymores who went to the
playoffs 4 times with Scotland and once with Ohio. Abe played in two FWL
Bowls and won one ring, FWL Bowl XVI was his last ever game in a Claymores
uniform. Abe was relegated to a backup with Scotland the following year and
was granted a trade when he asked for one. He moved to Ohio where he was a
backup TE but caught 3 td passes on just 6 receptions. He retired at the end
of that season but had some great seasons late in his career including nearly
900 yards in 2011.

Alli Abrew was originally a 5th round draft pick by Ohio, with the Glory faltering
in 2001 at 2-3 Abrew had a chance in the 6th game of the season when starting QB
Kurt Warner was injured. Abrew lost his first two games then won 7 straight games
to lead Ohio to the playoffs. They surprised San Antonio and New York to reach FWL
Bowl V but Abrew and the Glory had a poor game as they were defeated by Frankfurt.
Abrew went on to start for the Glory for the next 6 straight seasons and over that
period was excellent every year. He led Ohio to the playoffs two straight times
after the FWL Bowl appearance but then went 4 years without any playoffs at all.
After a poor year in 2007 which he threw only 8 touchdowns he was under pressure
the following year, despite playing well the Glory started 0-3 and he was benched
for backup Kevin Thompson. Abrew was then shockingly cut after the season but was
picked up by the Monarchs. He started several games for London late that year and
threw 7 td's in his final two games which were both wins. Abrew beat Austria in
the final week of the season and had one of his best games of all time (27 of 33
for 356 yards and 4 td's). Despite the great year it was another shock when
Abrew was cut by London, Austria quickly moved to sign him up as they knew from the
previous season in which he beat Austria the talent he had. Abrew started one game
for Austria and threw 3 td's in a win over Paris. However despite being a great
backup all year he was cut again, Barcelona picked him up the next year but he
sat on the bench all year and was cut for the 4th time and after being on the FA
list all year in 2012 he decided to retire. Abrew for a period with Ohio was an
excellent QB and the late games he had with London in 2009 were superb.

Steve Akers was signed as a FA in 2000 by San Antonio, the winners of a FA sweepstake
and started instantly. He played very well late in the season in limited appearances
and drew the interest of Austria. Traded to Austria he was part of a defensive line
which was one of the best in the league and one with the most depth. Playing in
rotation Akers always made plays despite not starting. His final game for Austria
was FWL Bowl VI where he left with an FWL Bowl ring. Montreal GM David Harwood traded
for Akers where he wanted him to be one of the team leaders on his defense he was building.
Promising him a full time role Akers happily was traded to Montreal where he instantly made
an impact on the young Machine. With Akers in the lineup Montreal went back to the playoffs
and the following 3 years of his Montreal career the defense were ranked in the top 10.
Akesr had a huge impact with Montreal and registered a career high and league leading 19
sacks in 2005 to be named AFC Defensive Player of the Year. It was his best ever year as
Montreal won the FWL Bowl and he won his second ring. Despite an off year in 2006 he had two
more great final years with Montreal and each time he won yet another FWL Bowl ring as the
Machine dominated the FWL in those seasons. Akers retired surprisingly after a 10 sack
season in 2008 but he went out at the top, in his career he went to the playoffs EVERY season
and left the game with an amazing FOUR FWL Bowl rings. One of the best defensive line
players ever.

A long time NY Knight Akins was an excellent pass rusher during his early years in the league
and had 68 sacks during his first 7 seasons in the league. 3 times Akins had double-digit sacks
with New York but finally after a 15 tackle 5 sacks year in 2008 Akins was surprisingly cut loose.
Sacramento are often the place for vets to go to and the Surge signed Akins as a FA where he hardly
played in 2009 making just 1 tackle. He saw more action the next year and had 2 sacks but decided
to retire after that season. During his early years in the league he was an excellent defensive end
but played on a bad NY defense for most of his career.

Great versatile receiver who when he retired was ranked 9th all time
in receptions with 536. Alalampi started his career as a punt returner
with Birmingham but in his third year he quickly moved into a starting
position at receiver and racked up 4 consecutive 1000 yard seasons
including a Birmingham record 96 catch season in 2003. Alalampi went to
FWL Bowl III as a rookie with Birmingham but the Fire narrowly lost to
Austria in overtime. As a backup the following season he went to the AFC
Championship game but Birmingham lost to the NY Knights. Despite 4 straight
1000 yard seasons he was surprisingly benched by the new Fire GM and was
traded to the Sacramento Surge. Ironically Alalampi faced his former team
in a wildcard game in 2005 but the Fire ran out winners. However the
following season Alalampi helped the Surge win FWL Bowl X and finally Sami
received his FWL Bowl ring. Alalampi retired ranked 9th all time receiving
and also scored scored two touchdowns by punt return where he totalled
over 1,200 yards returning punts and another 1,100 yards returning kickoffs.
Finished 14th all time with 9,733 yards

Alexander was a seldom used RB in the FWL but he did have moments of brilliance. During his
first four seasons with Sacramento, Alexander never ran the ball but caught 9 passes. He then
moved to Berlin where as a backup he won an FWL Bowl ring with the Thunder. A season later and
due to injury Alexander started the second half of the season and played very well with 9 td's
including a 77 yard td sprint. He helped the Thunder back to the EFC Game where they narrowly
lost but the next year Alexander was back to being a backup and he rushed for just over 300 yards.
The following season he was again a backup with Berlin but played in another EFC Championship game.
His final season he was cut by Berlin but then picked up by Cologne where he saw limited action.
Alexander retired after 9 seasons in the FWL but did surprisingly play in 1 AFC Game, 3 EFC
Championship games and also won 1 FWL Bowl ring.

Alexander was the 10th overall pick in the 1999 FWL draft and Alexander
didnt disappoint Scotland fans with an impressive rookie season with 58 catches
and nearly 800 yards receiving. However despite catching 40 passes or more in 5
out of his final 8 seasons Alexander never really lived up to his high draft
selection. Alexander finished 32nd all time in total yardage, he finished his
career with nearly 5000 yards receiving, over 1,100 yards punt return yardage and
over 2,500 yards on kick off returns. Alexander though scored just 9 touchdowns
despite nearly 400 catches but remained a good solid 3rd receiver for the Claymores.
Alexander retired after appearing in FWL Bowl XI.

Archer was one of the top QB's to enter the FWL back in 1997 but the 35 year
old only played 3 seasons before retiring. Took the Surge to the playoffs in
his first season but never won more than 4 games his last two seasons. After an
injury in '98 Archer returned and was on fire in his final season despite a 4-10
record. Retired at age 38 at the top after throwing a career best 15 td's.

Not everyone has heard of Jeff Arnold, he doesnt have the same big name like other
LB's in the early years of the FWL but Arnold was one of the best LB's around in
the first 5 years of the FWL. Arnold averaged over 6 sacks in his first 8 seasons
in the FWL, a very impressive number for a LB. He started his career in Paris and
was traded to Frankfurt the following offseason. Arnold instantly won an FWL Bowl
ring with the Galaxy and started on those great Galaxy teams for many years earning
a lot of success in the playoffs. With Frankfurt Arnold went to the playoffs 5
straight years, won 2 FWL Bowl rings before being surprisingly traded to Berlin.
His first season with Berlin was a success, he was the missing piece on defense, the
Thunder who hadnt gone to the playoffs in their first 6 seasons immediately went
with Arnold in the lineup. Then a year later Arnold helped them win FWL Bowl VIII, his
third FWL Bowl ring ! Despite having a great year with 7 sacks and over 60 tackles the
veteran LB was amazingly benched the following year and contributed just one tackle
which was on special teams. Arnold refused to play again and retired after that year
which was a bad ending to a great career. In the first 8 years of the FWL Arnold was
one of the top LB's around, a great pass rusher who had a lot of success.

Aska was a former 1st round pick who had to sit on the bench for most his career until he finally
got a chance and had the most impressive rushing season in the history of the league. Aska was
surprisingly drafted by Frankfurt despite having All-FWL legend Bobby Phillips as their starter.
Aska started on/off as a HB or FB and in his first 3 seasons only had 77 yards rushing but he caught
the eye of Frankfurt GM Marco Lambert as on 4 receptions he scored 3 touchdowns and amassed 148 yards
that season. The next year due to injuries Aska had a chance to start and racked up just under 500
yards, 12 td's and a 4.8 average much more impressive than Phillips. He carried on as a backup though
for the next two seasons but finally in 2007 he was given teh starting role ahead of Phillips. The
whole team struggled as they also had a new QB and for the first time ever in their history they
failed to make the playoffs. Aska played well and scored on a 95 yard touchdown run which proved
to be his career long. In 2008 with a new rookie sensation at QB, Aska had his first 1000+ yard season
and also caught 70 passes as Frankfurt roared back to the playoffs. They failed in the EFC Game however
but the next season was Askas best and the best season every by a RB in the league. Aska rushed for an
incredible 1,721 yards, an amazing 6.1 average and scored 23 touchdowns on the ground (23 !!!) and also
caught 54 passes for nearly 600 yards and another 2 touchdowns. Aska just couldnt be stopped, he had
7 100 yard rushing games that season, the most impressive which will always stand the test of time was
against Barcelona. Aska rushed just 15 times for 307 yards (20.5 avg), 80td L and 5 touchdowns ! He
ended the regular season with a further 177 yards on 17 carries against Rhein. Frankfurt won the FWL
Bowl that season thanks to an offense featuring Aska and QB Rohan Davey. The next year defenses looked
to stop Aska but that made Rohan Daveys job easier. Aska still had over 1000 yards and had a great
year as Frankfurt repeated as FWL Bowl champions. 2011 proved to be his final season however, he was
on/off all year, one minute rushing for 150 yards, next minute just 50. Finally after an injury in Week
9 he lost his job for the rest of the season and didnt look the same back. After the injury he rushed
for just 73 yards on 26 carries in the next 4 games as a backup. Deciding that he didnt want to be a
backup the next year Aska retired. Aska wont have set any career records because he started so late
in his career but for that 3 year stretch Aska was the best there was. His season in 2009 goes down in
history as one of the greatest performances ever in the league. In the highlights Aska just couldnt be
stopped and routinely ran through tackles for huge gains.

What can you say about Pat Barnes ?? Probably one of the greatest QB's ever to play in
the FWL. Barnes was picked first in the second ever FWL draft and he didnt let his team
down at all. Originally an Ireland Celt before the team moved to Berlin, Barnes had a
great rookie season despite an awful offensive line which got him sacked an FWL record
87 times which still stands to this day. He had no rushing attack to hep him but still
threw for over 3,700 yards and 16 td's. The franchise eventually moved to Berlin and
Barnes had some rocky years in the defensive orientated early years in the FWL from
2000-2001. A slow start to 2003 despite two wins put Barnes on the bench for the first
time in his career, backup Jay Fiedler led the team to the playoffs and it seemed Barnes
wouldnt get his job back but a great training camp the following year gave him his job
back and more importantly he had his best season by far with an 111.2 rating. Barnes was
brilliant throughout the year and led his team to FWL Bowl in an exciting overtime win
against Orlando. Barnes had an even better year the following season but lost out in the
EFC Championship. In the later years of his career he was one of the best and hooked up
with his favourite WR Vance Blundin for an FWL record number of touchdowns. From 2005-
2010 Barnes averaged 3,700 yards passing andhad 15 or more touchdowns every season. He
had 8 straight 90+ rating seasons in his last 9 seasons and was playing the best football
of his career. He led Berlin to the playoffs 5 times and also set records for everything
there was, when he retired he threw for the most touchdowns and yards and his records might
never be broken. In 2010 despite a poor season as the team missed the playoffs Barnes was
still playing great football and had a fine year, however in 2011 Barnes suddenly looked old,
he was still playing well but not up to his usual high standard. Then the unthinkable
happened, just a few yards away from an amazing 45,000 Barnes was injured and would miss the
rest of the season, it seemed certain Barnes would retire, however shockingly he decided to
start the final game of the season, despite being Q-3 Barnes hobbled and played the whole game
It says everything about Barnes that not only did the Thunder win the game but Barnes threw
two touchdowns in his final ever appearance. A true pro and one of the greatest ever players
the league has ever seen, Barnes did it all in an amazing career, former number 1 overall pick,
was benched for a season then came back to lead his team to FWL Bowl glory, constantly set
records for himself and his main target Vance Blundin. The team of 'oldies' in the final few
years with Berlin (TE Fear, WR Blundin, HB Black, QB Barnes all were starting and all were in
their 11th season or more) were great to watch and GM Andreas Born was very loyal to Barnes
in his final few seasons when things were going bad. A terrible loss to the league that
Barnes finally retired after 14 great years.

One of the best ever QB's to play the game. Barr was traded from
Scotland in potentially the leagues first ever blockbuster trade early
in the first ever season of the FWL. Barr played well for Austria but
famous Austrian GM Mario Kreiner traded with Rhein for Josh LaRocca before
the '98 season and Barr moved to Rhein. Barr excelled under GM Miguel
Cuadrons leadership and Barr led the Fire to the playoffs 5 times during his
7 seasons. Barr led Rhein to two FWL Bowl's winning one in 2000 as the Fire
finished the season 16-1. Barr was very accurate and never threw more than
7 ints in a season. His 119.0 rating in 2003 is still an FWL record. Barr
was eventually cut after the 2004 season due to a GM change and started for
two seasons with Birmingham taking the Fire to the AFC Championship game in
2005. 4 championship games, two FWL Bowls appearances (winning one) and was
named league MVP in 1999. Never threw more than 7 interceptions a season !

Benoit came back for one final season but hardly saw any action and soon retired.
Finished as the 18th all time leading sacker with 77 in his career.

For 8 seasons Magic Benton was one of the top WR's in the game averaging 1000 yards a season
and 90 catches a year. He was one of the best trade pickups in recent years and GM Jonathan
Munro made a great deal with San Antonio for the young untested WR who had only 1 catch in his
rookie year. Munro instantly started Benton and the results were brilliant hooking up with
Dragons QB Jon Kitna for many passes and td's. He made the All-FWL team in Season 7 and 8
and also played in FWL Bowl IX. He went to the playoffs 5 times during his Barcelona career
and retired as the 3rd leading WR in league history with 687 catches for nearly 9,500 yards.

Randy Bethel never put up eye popping numbers. As a TE Bethel put
up some decent numbers but was also known as one of the top blockers
in the game. Bethel made an FWL record 5 consecutive All-FWL appearances

A fine TE Bethel for Ohio he remains one of the top TE's of all time

Much like his defensive partner in New York, Phil Haynes, Biedermann was another great
NY Knight and FWL veteran who was let go near the end of his career as he was deemed too old.
Biedermann was one of the top tackling machine early in his FWL career and seemed that he
would smash every FWL record there was for tackles, after his rookie season for the next EIGHT
seasons he had over 80 tackles as he was the team leader for the Knights. He was a tackling
machine and also picked up a lot of sacks as the LB1 in New York. Surprisingly he was then
benched in 2008 despite all those seasons of 80+ tackles and was cut. Sacramento, long a home
for veterans signed Biedermann originally as a backup but he played so well he saw a lot of
action and had 4 sacks and nearly 50 tackles. His record of 8 consecutive years of 80+ tackles
might never be broken. He retired ranked 2nd all time with 776 tackles.

Bigger was probably the best ever deep threat TE in the game. A former WR
who moved to TE during 1998 when he was traded to Austria Bigger was part
of an FWL juggernaut in Austria on a team who lost just 11 games in the five
seasons he played there. Bigger went to five championship games (1 with
Berlin) and picked up two FWL Bowl rings with Austria. He was also named
All-FWL in 2001 and 2002 for Austria. Biggers one record he did not like was
in 1998 for Raleigh when he returned a kickoff 96 yards against Amsterdam but
fell over without being touched two yards from the endzone. The longest ever
kickoff return not for a touchdown ! One of his best games was against
Frankfurt in the wildcard round in 1999. Bigger led the DarkKnights to a win
over the reigning FWL champions Frankfurt Galaxy thanks to his 5 catches for
130 yards performance. A great TE who in his final FWL season at age 36 caught
his longest ever pass of 90 yards. Surprisingly only caught 6 td's in 10 seasons.
Has 3 FWL Bowl rings and played in 6 EFC Championship games winning 3 of them.

Michael Bishop wasnt viewed as much more than a backup when he was originally
drafted in the 4th round by Sacramento. He signed with the Surge but lasted
only 2 weeks before being cut and signed by Montreal as a FA. The following
season Montreal traded Bishop to San Antonio in exchange for a former 1st
round pick - Mike Pawlawski. The trade seemed to favour Montreal but the
Riders did a great job developing Bishop. Bishop played quite a few games
in his first year with the Riders but then the following year was a backup
to Riders QB Heath Rylance. With Rylance traded the next year the job was
Bishops and he didnt let go. Bishop started for 8 straight years throwing
for over 3000 yards each year (unoffical record) and for 4 of his first 5
years threw for over 3,800 yards. He was named All-FWL four times during his
career and led his team to the playoffs 6 straight years. In 2011 he led his
team to FWL Bowl XV where they narrowly lost to Austria 20-17 in overtime.
Bishop threw 2 touchdowns and had his team in a position to win it late but
conservative play calling gave the Riders a late FG to tie the game and they
lost in overtime. After a very poor 2013 season with just 9 td's and 7 ints
the Riders benched Bishop who only played in a few mop up performances but did
start the Week 14 clash. He retired after 12 seasons and threw for over
32,000 yards and 146 touchdowns.

Michael Black started the first few seasons as a backup in New York and in his
first season played in FWL Bowl IV. Finally in his third year Black started and
was brilliant, he had over 1000 yards rushing, over 72 catches and scored 17
touchdowns. The next season his stats dropped slightly but he still had a great
year and scored 12 touchdowns. The next two years he topped 1000 yards again and
scored in those two years 33 touchdowns, Black was a touchdown maching in his first
4 seasons starting with 49 touchdowns on the ground alone ! Black started to show
signs of slowing down in 2006-2007 but still had over 800 yards rushing in each
year and also caught 75 passes for nearly 900 yars in 2006. Finaly he was
surprisingly traded to Berlin in 2008 but he instanly helped them to the playoffs
and played in the Wildcard round. In 2009 Black had his best season in years with
nearly 950 yars rushing and 73 catches however in 2010 everything went wrong for
Berlin, the team aged badly, the offensive line couldnt open up any holes and
Black had a terrible year. His final season was even worse, again with a poor
line in front of him Black rushed for just over 500 yards with a long of 19 and
an average of just 2.3 which was hard to watch. He proved it wasnt him though and
was more to do with the poor play of the offensive line as he showed his speed with
an 83 yard touchdown reception. He decided to retire after 12 great seasons in the
FWL and when he retired was ranked the 2nd best all time rusher with nearly 8700
yards, he scored 97 touchdowns on the ground and also had 665 receptions which was
ranked 8th all time. A great player Black had 10 plays of over 60+ yards in his
career and was one of the best RB's ever in the FWL.

Blount was never one of the best RB's in the league but had some decent seasons early in
his career with the Admirals. Blount was a 7th round sleeper by the Admirals and his first
season as a backup Blount rushed for 351 yards but also caught 49 passes. An excellent
receiver Blount could have put up some excellent numbers had he played for one of the contenders
in the FWL. He took over the starting job in 2002 his second season and was on the first ever
Admirals team who had a winning season, he rushed for over 800 yards and caught 58 passes. His
next year was his best as he rushed for nearly 850 yards and caught 87 passes for over 900 yards,
at the time a record for a RB which was only beaten many years later. He had a poor season in 2005
but still caught 57 passes. However Blount was traded to EFC rivals LOndon where he started in 2006.
His first season with London he helped lead the team to the playoffs but was back to being a backup
the following year. In 2008 he started again and had nearly 500 yards as he shared the starting role
but the next two seasons he was relegated to backup and in 2010 after just 2 carries all year he
decided to retire after a 10 year career in the FWL.

Norris Blundin was always in the shadow of his famous brother Vance Blundin who became
the top WR of all time in the FWL but Norris Blundin became a great WR in his own right.
Blundin arrived at Sacramento as a number 1 pick but due to some great WR's on the Surge
squad already he had to bide his time as a backup. He was finally moved to WR1 in 2004
and the team started enjoying a great ride of success in the playoffs. Blundin had his
first 1000 yard season in 2004 and had a string of 7 1000 yard seasons in a row before
retiring. During his time as a starter Blundin was a speedster and averaged over 15 yards
during his starting years. He scored a touchdown in FWL Bowl X as he collected a ring as
the Surge reigned supreme and despite some lean years from 2009-2010 Blundin carried on
playing very well and had over 1000 yards both seasons. He retired surprisingly aged 32
and finished his FWL career as the 3rd leading WR of all time with over 700 catches and
over 10,000 yards, at the time only the 4th WR ever with over 10,000 yards. Blundin
spent the whole of his career with Sacramento and was a major reason why the Surge went
to the playoffs for 6 straight years.

The best WR ever in the FWL. Many thought Toderick Malones records with London would
never be beaten until Vance Blundin started playing and linked up with his QB Pat Barnes
for many great seasons. Blundin was the top overall pick a year after Barnes was drafted
and became the greatest QB-WR partnership in FWL history by far. Blundins first four
years didnt have any 1000 yard seasons but Blundin was a consistent possession WR but then
in 2003 Blundin developed into a great deep threat and exploded. Blundin set a streak of
9 straight 1000 yard seasons and every year had over 80 catches. He scored 10 touchdowns
in two seperate seasons and had 106 catches in 2006 for nearly 1,500 yards and also was
named All-FWL 5 times in a row. Blundin tasted success in FWL Bowl VIII and also went
to the playoffs 4 other seasons. Even in his final last few years Blundin still had many
100 yard performances and constantly had 1000 yard seasons. Late in his years he also
had the knack of scoring last minute touchdowns and won three games in 2010 with last
second receptions for td's. A brilliant WR Blundin was on some poor teams in his early
years in the FWL but became the best WR of all time and perhaps one of the greatest players
ever in the FWL, he certainly is one of the top 3 players ever for sure.

Shedrick Bonner spent most of his whole career with the London Monarchs and their arch rivals Austria.
He arrived as a 4th round pick and spent his rookie season mostly on the bench. Former London
GM Jason Compton started Bonner in his second season and Bonner didnt disappoint with a great
season with 15 td's and just 3 ints and over 3000 yards. Bonner started again the following year
and was even better as he took London to the EFC Championship and threw 16 td's and just 2 ints.
However the following season Bonners confidence seem to disappear, after throwing 5 ints the last
two seasons Bonner then threw just 9 td's and 10 ints in 2004. Another subpar year in 2005 prompted
a trade to Austria, Londons arch rivals. Bonner played well in his first season with Austria with
11 td's and just 2 ints but struggled in 2007 and lost his starting job. Bonner was eventually
traded back to London the following year where he started for most of the year. However in 2009
Bonner was relegated to a backup role but still played well in spot appearances. Finally he was cut
after 2009 but returned to hold the clipboard for a few games in 2010 when he was resigned. Bonner
had two excellent early seasons with London where he threw 31 td's and just 5 ints but after so much
promise early in his career Bonner seemed to decline and was never the same QB again. It looked like
Bonner would retire after being a FA in 2011 but his old team Austria signed him to be the backup.
He started the last game of the season for Austria and played well and won an FWL Bowl ring as Austria
went all the way. He was however cut after the season, he was signed as a FA to London but the
Monarchs eventually released him and Scotland picked him up. After training camp however the
veteran was cut again but due to an injury to starting Surge QB Rob Adamson, Bonner was signed as a
FA to Sacramento and was a backup for the Surge.

It was quite a gamble for the Surge to trade for Todd Bouman in 2003. He had never thrown a pass
in the FWL, he had already been with two teams and still was an unknown quantity. The Surge GM
took a chance and started him later in 2003 and Bouman excelled with some excellent performances.
Despite starting QB Charlie Ward taking his team to the playoffs in 2003 the Surge made a bold
move to start him in 2004 which paid off as Bouman led his team back to the playoffs and the young
QB played very well all year. An effective pocket passer Bouman in his early years with the Surge
never threw many touchdowns but didnt throw many interceptions either. Two years of frustration of
losing to Orlando in the playoffs hurt the Surge but finally in 2006 the Surge defeated their nemesis
and reached FWL Bowl X. They faced the great Frankfurt Galaxy but Bouman set FWL Bowl records which
still hold to this day with 4 touchdown passes in the first half as Sacramento won their first ever
FWL Bowl. The team went back the following year, Bouman threw an uncharacteristic 20 touchdown
passes and also a career high 12 ints but the Surge lost in the AFC Game. Bouman at this time was
one of the best passers in the game, he was named All-FWL 3 times and also led his team to the playoffs
5 straight seasons. However the Surge were in one of the toughest divisions in football and after
losing a lot of talent the Surge went downhill, in 2010 the team sunk to their worst season ever under
Bouman (3-10-1) but Bouman came back strong in 2010 with a 7-7 record and his best season yet for
several years. When the Surge GM moved to London he took Bouman with him and instantly named him
his starter, Bouman like the last few years started most of the year before giving way late in the
year to a backup but Bouman had a very effective final season with 12 touchdowns and just 2 ints to give
him his best year (101.3 rating) for many seasons and Bouman decided to retire at the top. Bouman
had an impressive 8 straight 3000 yard seasons and had an excellent career with Sacramento/London.
His duels with San Antonios Michael Bishop and Montreals Danny Wuerrfel in the AFC West were brilliant
and so were his AFC playoff games with Orlandos Jon Denton. A shame Bouman retired when he did but
he went out at the top.

Ricky Brown had the best career of any FB ever in the league, he played 12 seasons
with Montreal, went to the playoffs every year and played in 6 FWL Bowls, winning 4
of them. Brown was amazingly a 7th round draft pick when he was drafted and only had
2 rushes for the first 3 years of his career. He gradually started at FB for Montreal
in 2007 and for 7 straight years he rushed for over 300 yards (an impressive total for
a FB) and scored 34 touchdowns during that time. His 13 touchdowns in 20009 is still
a FWL record for a FB. Brown was a great blocker and made some huge plays in the
playoffs. He scored the first touchdown in FWL Bowl XI, scored the last touchdown to
seal the win in FWL Bowl XII and in FWL Bowl XVII he scored the first touchdown again
in yet another win. An excellent FB who turned out to be the best ever, not bad value
for a 7th round pick !

Bruce the former NFL veteran came to Raleigh for the FWL's first ever season in 1997 and
quickly became one of the most famous sackers and punt blockers ever in the FWL. Along
with Steve Emtman and David Bailey, Bruce blocked an amazing number of punts. The number
of punts he blocked wasnt known but in 1997 alone he recovered 2, in 1998 he recovered an
unbelievable 17 blocked punts and scored 4 td's returning the blocks and in 1999 he
recovered 10 ! He recovered 29 blocked punts alone ! The number blocked must have been
much more ! Bruce was also a great sacker and averaged 10 sacks for his career making a
personal best 16 in 1998 and who also had a high number of tackles per year including a
best 52 in 2000 ! He sadly never made it to the playoffs or even played on a team with a
winning record but personally he gave it his best.

Maurice Bryant had a strange FWL career, he was a lowly backup his first two years in
San Antonio but made headlines by scoring in FWL Bowl VI for San Antonio in a close loss.
He then started at WR2 the next few seasons with the Riders and played well but the
possession receiver was eventually traded to London for not much in 2006. His first season
he caught just 2 passes but with the retirement of Monarch legend Toderick Malone he was
given the WR1 job in training camp. A huge surprise but the gamble paid off for GM Jason
Compton as Bryant exceeded all expectations and thanks to the mentoring from Malone the year
before, Bryant led the league with 102 catches, over 1400 yards and 8 touchdowns ! He
proved it wasnt a fluke the following year with another 1000 yard season and 8 touchdowns
but in 2009 the whole team just collasped. QB Matt Lytles confidence was shot and the Monarchs
went through a whole host of QB's, once a deep threat with London, Bryant only seemed to catch
mostly short passes his final season and the explosiveness had gone. After such a poor year at
WR1 and with so many drops Bryant decided to retire rather than be benched. He had two great
years in London with nearly 2,500 yards but in 2009 he declined very badly.

York where he played very well at FB for the Knights HB DeMario Brown but was eventually let
go after being a backup in 2010 and a year later in 2011 was released. For some strange reason
several teams decided to sign Burpee, he was claimed by Montreal then later the player was
traded to the Riders, after being on the FA list for most of the year and not being wanted
suddenly he was in a tug of war with several teams to sign him ! Burpee never had a carry in his
final season and had just 5 special team tackles but he still managed to play in FWL Bowl XV
where he made a tackle and decided to retire after his appearance in the big game.
